Dumbcane (Dieffenbachia seguine) is a herbaceous perennial native to the tropical Americas and the Caribbean. It is a popular evergreen houseplant due to its tolerance of shade. It has big beautiful shiny green to cream-white colored leaves. The leaves contain raphides, which are calcium-oxalate needles that can cause horses intense oral irritation.
