Dimercaprol

- Dimercaprol (BAL) is a chelating agent used as an antidote for heavy metal intoxication. It is also used together with another medicine called edetate disodium (EDTA) to treat lead poisoning.
Typical Dosage: The typical dosage for an adult horse is 3-5 mg/kg q 6h IM for 2 days. Daily doses are then reduced through the period of recovery.
